Spicy Serrano BLT Sandwich

Most people that know me, know very well that I love absolutely love spicy food, for me the spicier the better, but there has to be this kind of spicy where the spicyness doesn’t take away the other flavors in food, that’s where I come in 😀

This BLT Sandwich happens to be quite spicy and quite good, I sort of messed up and forgot the tomatoes but it’s an easy fix….

Ingredients

2-3 slices of tomato (buy the organic kind :D)

1 little leaf of lettuce (you can choose whichever lettuce you want or have at hand I chose the looseleaf lettuce)

2 slices of white bread (you can use any kind of bread; on a side note I used bread from my local bakery called Revolution this bread is called Brioche and it’s completely gluten free organic bread)

2 slices of cheese (I used Monterrey Pepper jack, I recommend this or regular Monterrey Jack/ as always use your own cheese if you like)

1 Green Serrano Pepper thinly sliced (you can add as little or as much as you want, remember this pepper is hot)

1 bacon strip (If you know where to get the organic kind let me know :D)

1 slice of honey smoked ham (I bought Hormel Natural Choice it’s gluten free and minimally processed)

little bit of butter (going to be honest here and used a little bit of bacon grease from the bacon instead of butter…)

Preparation

Preheat your pan somewhere in between high and medium temperature, once it’s warm enough grease the pan with a couple of slices of butter (Bacon grease in my case; by this time you already cooked your bacon slice in the microwave about a minute or until crispy remember use the bacon microwavable tray and cover with a piece of paper towel) wait a few seconds before adding the bread; now place your bread in the pan, add the cheese and top the cheese with a few slices of serrano pepper that way when the cheese melts the pepper melts into it 😀 nice and yummy 😛 then take the other piece of bread and put it on top; if you have a spatula you can press down on the bread (you can use an iron thingy they sell with cast iron cookware to weigh down the bread) until it’s toasty and flip (careful not to mess up the sandwich) press again until it’s toasted; remember we want to make it as if it were a grilled cheese sandwich so we have to wait till the cheese is melted, once melted take the sandwich out and place on the plate; place your ham in the pan and flip it over a couple of times just to warm it up and give it some extra flavor; place your ham in the sandwich, add the lettuce, the tomato and split the bacon in half and add it also.

I added some of the left over lettuce as a side salad and used my favorite dressing (italian dressing)

enjoy 🙂Image
